Hi title says it all, can I give my girls the left over asparagus stems I have from tonight's supper. They are uncooked. I am worried that they might be on the no no list. Also concerned it might taint their eggs, as I know in humans it can turn pee green!!

Yes you can feed it to them raw or cooked as long as no salt on it. They may not like it, they are as fussy as us humans. I have one that will eat it and the rest go over, seem to have a taste and walk away.

I give mine anything green including the grass cuttings i even purposely grow lettuces in my polytunnel for them the only thing i dont give them is rhubarb leaves but anything else is fair game they instinctively seem to know if it is edible or not  and if they dont like it they just ignore it

Stopped raining log enough for me to take out the Asparagus. Its all gone so they obviously enjoyed it. Sprout peelings today.
I noticed some mushrooms growing in the corner of their coop yesterday so I dug them out. They hadn't touched them at all, so maybe they do have a sense of what is ok to eat and what isn't.
